President's Message: March 2010

Dear 2nd Engineers,

I must resign my position as President of the 2nd Engineer Battalion Association. My health has been failing for the last few months and I feel that I cannot do my job as President as I should. It has been a pleasure to have been selected to be the President of the Association and to be honest about it, I am very proud that I was able to carry out the duties of the position in a useful manner. Since my health is not what it was, I feel that I must resign this position so that someone else can take over the as President and carry on the task of representing the Association. It is with regret that I resign but I feel the position needs a stronger leader who would be able to carry on as President.

Thank you for your faith in me and your trust over the years, I will remain as a member of the Association because it has been an important part of my life and I will not forget the experiences and training that I had with the 2nd Engineer Battalion. They really were important factors and had a great impact on how I lived my life. May the Good Lord look after you all and bless you all. Again thank you.

Welcome to the 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion Association Blog

The 2nd Engineer Combat Battalion Association was founded in 1996 by veterans of the Korean War, where the 2nd Engineers have a storied history, though its members include 2nd Engineers to the present day. The battalion was stationed at Camp Castle, Korea until 2005 when it was reflagged into a Brigade Troops Battalion. In late 2008, the battalion reactivated and reflagged at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, about 70 miles northwest of Ft. Bliss, Texas.

The 2nd Engineer Association publishes a quarterly newsletter, but we hope to make use of (free) technology to get the word out and increase our membership ranks.

Welcome - we hope to make this an interactive site. Any photos or articles can be sent to George Hegedus at gshegedus@aol.com.
